Troy Tulowitzki. DL. broken rib

Postby SpecialFNK » Thu Jun 13, 2013 9:46 pm

from rotoworld.
Troy Tulowitzki is headed to the disabled list after an MRI on his right side revealed a broken rib.
Terrible news for the Rockies, who have faded after a hot start but are still in the thick of things in the NL West. Tulo has been dealing with rib soreness for a week and had to leave Thursday's game after aggravating the injury. He has had an MVP-caliber first half, batting .347/.413/.635 with 16 homers and 51 RBI. It's not clear how long Tulo will be sidelined, but Troy Renck of the Denver Post expects the absence to be "lengthy." Josh Rutledge will likely be called up to handle shortstop.

I haven't seen who is coming up, but have to imagine josh Rutledge.

EDIT: this is what rotoworld says about Rutledge.
Josh Rutledge is likely to be recalled to replace Troy Tulowitzki (rib) on the Rockies' roster.
Rutledge has batted .348/.438/.565 with two homers in 69 at-bats since his demotion to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He should see regular playing time and is worth scooping up in deeper mixed formats.

:~(

Rockies expect SS Troy Tulowitzki to miss 4-6 weeks with broken rib on right side.

This really blows. Any thoughts on potential replacements that would be available on the WW? I just grabbed Yunel Escobar since he's playing well lately but this is going to be pretty tough to weather for the next 4-6 weeks (if not longer knowing Tulo.) Potential under-the-radar trade targets are also welcome.

An obvious replacement would be Rutledge if he's available. Mike Aviles is also getting regular playing time with Asdrubal on the DL, and he's a 15/15 type player with a solid average.

Try Starlin Castro for a bag of balls. Maybe the owner has given up.

Best bet is just to grab Rutledge and hope he can produce.

Rutledge should be good for .250 and 12/12 the rest of the way. He has upside for more, but the power speed combo is better than what's out there on most waiver wires at middle infield.

Yeah someone snagged Rutledge immediately so I missed him. Grabbed Aviles for now.
