6/6 Cheering-Venting & the Houston Castronaught

Postby BChinly » Thu Jun 06, 2013 6:46 am

In a ruckus of events that happened yesterday in the baseball world, Jason Castro quietly launched his 8th homerun on the season. I think that Castro is finally healthy and has a chance to put together a solid season while many other catchers aren't starting off too well. Yes, he is still on the Houston Astros... but at least he's hitting behind Jose Altuve!

If you were living under a rock yesterday you missed:
Teheran missing a No-No by four outs
The Colorado Rockies hit six homeruns in Pedro Villarreal first career start filling in for Cueto(Countdown to Cingrania begins)
So did the Houston Astros 8-o
Yasiel Puig struck out
In Seattle, The Chicago White Sox broke a scoreless game open in the top 14th inning with 5 runs, only for Seattle to tie them in the bottom of the 14th with 5 runs of their own, thanks to a Grand Slam courtesy of Kyle Seager. The Sox ended up winning it in the 17th with 2 more runs.

And on a side note, don't make Matt Holliday Angry

I have Lester and Cashner both going today. I'm worried about both. But I think I will stick with Lester, and bench Cashner.

Evan Gattis should at least be an option on the poll.
I was also thinking about voting for Edmundo Franklin and didn't see him listed either?! B-)

Big fun today is the draft:

My thinking:

1.1 Astros: Gray
1.2 Cubs: Appel
1.3 Rockies: Smith (today's hot rumor):
1.4 Twins: Bryant
1.5 Indians: Moran
1.6 Marlins: Shipley
1.7 Red Sox: Stewart
1.8 Royals: Ball
1.9: Pirates: McGuire
1.10: Blue Jays: Frazier
1.11 Mets: Meadows
1.12 Mariners: Crawford
1.13 Padres Renfroe
1.14 Pirates: Peterson
1.15 D'Backs: Bickford
1.16 Phillies: Clarkin
1.17 White Sox: Alex Gonzalez
1.18 Dodgers: Tim Anderson
1.19 Cardinals: Chris Anderson
1.20 Tigers: Jagielo
1.21 Rays: Denney
1.22 O's: Billy McKinney
1.23 Rangers: Nick Ciuffo
1.24 A's: Marco Gonzales
1.25 Giants: Judge
1.26 Yankees: J.P. Crawford.
1.27 Reds: Ervin
1.28 Cardinals: Jonathon Crawford
1.29 Rays: Kaminsky
1.30 Rangers: Serrano
1.31 Braves: Harvey
1.32 Yankees: Austin Wilson
1.33 Yankees: Sean Manaea (i doubt they taker Wilson AND Manaea, but there is a good chance they take one)

Man, I just can't get into the draft this year...I have no faith in the Royals organization either A) picking the right guy or B) not developing him correctly, or at all.

What are the odds you think the rockies take Smith with Moran and Bryant still on the board? Hope you're right about Meadows at 11 but I don't see him falling past 7.
