Yasmani Grandal will he here tomorrow and on active roster. John Baker headed to Triple-A Tucson. More soon at http://Padres.com

he had some nice numbers last season with the Padres.
60 games/192 AB - .297/.394/.469/.863/ 8 HR
..then he got busted for PED.

this season in the minors, not so great.
http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/ ... ni-Grandal
9 games/ 36 AB - .306/.342/.389/.731/ 0 HR, 3 D, 2 RBI.
it's only 9 games, but should one be concerned over 0 HR?

EDIT: rotoworld.
Yasmani Grandal will be reinstated from his suspension and added to the Padres' roster on Tuesday.
Grandal failed to homer but batted .306 in nine minor league games to convince the Padres he was ready. He might initially share catching duties with Nick Hundley, but it's probably only a matter of time before he plays pretty much every day. He's a must-start in fantasy leagues. John Baker will be sent down to make room on the roster

I can't see how 9 games in the minors after a long layoff with a .306 is not so great. This a smaller sample size than what is normally considered a small sample size. At the same time 60 game isn't exactly a long career either.

I picked him in a keeper league based on speculation but considering how bad Hundley is the bar isn't exactly high for him to keep the full time job.

I was more concerned with the power, or lack of power.
how much of his power before this season was from PED? if the power he had was from PED, and he's now clean, doesn't that mean the power will be less, or even go away?

he did show power in 2011, as well as in college. so maybe it's an overreaction based on the PED, and his power will be fine.

my catcher is currently Salvador Perez, who has a good AVG, but 1 HR. if Grandal wont have the power he showed last season, he's no better than Perez.

I'd much rather have Perez. He's going to turn it on at some point.

Grandal starting tonight and batting 6th.

I also have Perez as my catcher. I'm hopeful the power comes, been holding him since the beginning of the season when he was struggling and was dropped to the bottom of the lineup. It would be nice if they moved him back up. If Grandal shows any kind of power, it will be tough not to make a move.
