If Yadi is sitting this one out with the suspension, not at all.

Yadi is appealing the suspension, aside from that Goldy scares me... though this game is in STL so it looks like a toss up to me. I'm considering it only if Yadi is playing i'd suggest checking lineups before making the decision.

Molina is behind the plate tonight, so that makes Wacha better yes?

He throws straight overhand which means he doesn't have a ton of movement on the fastball. FB is anywhere between 91-96 so far..sitting around 92-94. The changeup is plus, sitting between 82-86. His command has been perfect tonight with both pitches, though this 4th inning he's started leaving his fastball up more. Even though his fastball is straight the Royals have yet to have a good swing against it because they respect the changeup so much since he can throw it for strikes and throws it for strikes low in the zone. There hasn't been a single ball hit hard yet against him and he's made most of them just look silly. He threw his first curveball in the 4th at 76 but it was high so there isn't much to tell from that.

To sum up, his command with his fastball and change have been very good. Even though his fastball is a little straight, everyone respects the plus change so they are off balance on both pitches. He works fast and until the 4th if he missed at all it was down....we'll see how the 5th shapes up.

5th inning

The 5th inning he's lost some giddy up on the FB, don't know if it's just the adrenaline wearing off or what but he hit 93 once but otherwise was 90-92 with his fastball. A couple hard hit balls against that fastball in this inning as well. Also from the stretch he left a changeup high for what seems like the first time and it got hit as well. Other than that he maintained his poise and got out of just a little trouble in the 5th with that plus changeup. He also threw what looked like his first cutter at 90mph and there was something straight at 89mph too that I don't know if it was just a slow fastball or a hard change. I also saw a fast curve or slower slider at 82mph that wasn't a strike and wasn't anything special.

6th inning

He was just joking with the FB...it's back up to 93-95 and his command was solid again. He threw another curveball and this one was for a taken strike, it was just average looking though.

7th inning

He's just attacking the zone, I'm impressed with that. I also love his changeup. He threw 1 more curveball this inning and it's still average and more of just a showme type of pitch. This may be his last inning as he's over 90 pitches now.

Yes, do very much keep in mind this is the Royals...they couldn't hit their way out of a wet paper sack over the last 2-3 weeks. With that said, Wacha has still been impressive and wouldn't have given any team time enough to take pitches with how much he's pounding the zone and keeping guys off balance...though maybe another team would have a couple more hits off him tonight, who knows.

J35J wrote:Wacha does need a 3rd pitch, he's got that curveball that is just average and they say he'll throw a cutter and/or a slider but he really didn't throw it tonight, nor did he need to though. If that change is off at all, all he's left with is a straight fastball so I'd imagine he'll have some rough nights against better offenses...he was good tonight though.

quality breakdown... its great to see a ol' gent and scholar like you and some other fine mates here at the cafe after a very long absinthe from thy self... (no pun intended... unless the "im drunk" thread still pops up time to time)

that rays trade has turned out quite well as a boost the royaltation this season though and meyers isnt ready yet so that is a plus for you... rays do get a great 3-4 future punch if he pans out.. always liked wade, shields is a gamer.

Am I wrong to believe that this guy should be a "Do not draft" next year and/or that he is a good guy to sell in dynasty leagues. He should have a ton of hype given his last 3 starts have been abusrd!

That straight over the top delivery sure has the umpires faked out on anything down in the zone, I can't believe the amount of calls that went his way today so I'd probably say he's a keeper right now.
