I usually don't endorse rookie players, but Gausman is an exception. I think the sky is the limit for this guy. Can throw in the upper 90's, has pinpoint control, enduces a lot of ground balls, etc.

Probably going to be handled the same way the Marlins are handling Fernandez though, so expect a low W total and an innings cap.

In one league I had waited until yesterday to cut the chord on Tony Cingrani. Between Leake's nice showing, Cueto finishing his start without incident, and the news of Gausman's callup, it was a no-brainer switch to make.

I want to drop J Garcia for him, but I haven't heard yet how Garcia's meeting with Dr Andrews went.

How good is Garcia anyway? I'd probably make that drop.

I'm not familiar with Gausman. Would he be a good H2H pickup and worth dropping Ross Detwiler to get him?

Not unless you are way behind in the standings. I don't see how Gausman lasts 200 innings so he wouldn't be around for H2H playoffs.

I admit, I don't know much about Gausman myself, but as a benchmark, I've heard people say they are higher on him now than they were on Cingrani when first called up. To me Detwiler is ever so slightly above replacement level, if not replacement level. Personally I'd make that switch.

That's not to say Gausman will definitely be better than Detwiler, but to me you shouldn't have too much trouble replacing Detwiler's stats. It would be much harder to replace the stats that Gausman is capable of giving you. Worst case scenario, Gausman falls flat on his face and you pick up another mediocre starting pitcher. Best case scenario, he sticks and you have a Kris Medlen 2012 situation. I can't speak to the innings limit, but it seems to me that that could hypothetically be managed throughout the season so he doesn't just disappear in September, but I'd defer to others who probably know more than I do on that front.

Long story short, unless you're in a 16+ team league, Detwiler is replaceable while Gausman's upside is not.

Looks like Garcia is done for the season. Surgery was the verdict: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=461068
