Josh Rutledge trade WHIR *update* Who to keep?

Postby baseballfanTigers » Sun May 19, 2013 9:33 pm

What is everyone's thoughts on Josh Rutledge. Someone currently is offering me a 1st and 4th round pick for a 9th and 14th.

He has 2B/SS eligibility and plays in COL. He has some power.

Its a 16 team 5 keeper league. My team is in rebuild mode so I don't have much behind him and I'm not getting much in return. Is he a keeper worthy player or should I move him for this?

What player would you be getting in return? I know you said you're rebuilding but I'm still curious. Either way getting a 1st and a 4th is a tremendous return. I like Rutledge, but I doubt he will ever be a top 50 player. Make the deal.

Getting the picks is key here...I agree with Cords that Josh is doubtful to be a top 50 player if Fantasy.

this is a great trade for you. awesome return for rutledge. the miltipositional eligibility is nice but the two picks make it worth while. you arent contending for this season so its a good idea to trade him off

C: Lucroy/Doumit
1B: Freeman
2B: Aaron Hill/Kelly Johnson
3B: Brett Lawrie
SS: Rutledge
OF: Trout
OF: Dominic Brown
OF: Rasmus
UTL: Alvarez
UTL: Plouffe
BN: Pierre
BN: Taveras
BN: Zunino
BN: Nick Franklin

DL: Maybin
DL: Logan Morrison

SP: Santana, Milone, Lester, Hughes, LIndblom, Jerome Williams

I would do the trade for sure, nice picks, especially with 3 in first round. Do you have to keep the max number of keepers, if not I would keep less and take the picks in the keeper rounds. Keep Trout for sure, that is a no brainer. Other than that, maybe Freeman, Lawrie, and possibly Brown. Other than that not sure, I think the key here for you is to get as many early picks as possible. No matter how many pick offers you get for Trout though, and I am sure you are getting them do not do it. Thanks for help on mine

Are there any limitations on keepers? When you say you're getting a first round pick, do you actually mean a pick somewhere from 81-96 after keepers? And the 4th is actually pick 160-176.
I really like Rutledge as a late-round steal, but realistically, I don't think he's ever going to be a top-100 player.

It's pretty early to decide keepers right now, except Trout. Taveras could be a keeper by the end of the year. If Aaron Hill ever gets healthy he could be a keeper. Lester looks like an ace again now. Dom Brown and Freeman are probably the next two best keeper options.

I hate to say it, but you might want to explore trading Trout. I saw another guy here get McCutchen and Verlander in a 16-team keeper league.

If just looking at keeping 5 with no limitations I'd say
Freeman
Trout
Hill
Alvarez
Lester

(Maybe Franklin sneaks in with a solid summer performance? I'd like to believe that as an M's fan :D)

I like the trade!
