Not pinch hits - but you got 1997 right. As a hint, this list doesn't measure any cumulative stat. Hill was the first, by the way, and both Smith and Henderson had dingers...

I have two guesses:

1. Everybody got a hit as the leadoff for their team (i.e. every team had a lead off hit thanks to these guys).

2. All these guys got hits in their first game against their former teams on the same day.

Good guesses, but this one really is fiendish... As far as hits are concerned, both Keith Lockhart and Jose Vidro got on the list by going 0-for-4. And the opening day idea is in the right ballpark, but the list was actually compiled in June...

Nope - the list was complete before June was out... Pinch hits is an interesting idea, and may lead you in the right direction, but it's not quite on the mark...

OK, how about the first player on their team to have an at bat in Pro Player Stadium? OK so I am reaching, but this is going to be tougher than my Rose question I think 8-o

:-D Maybe the talk shows come to us for their material?

But yes, now would be an appropriate time to guess this one...
