Machado for Votto? WHIR

Postby chowder » Thu May 16, 2013 9:46 am

12 team H2H points redraft league. I don't need Votto, but should I make this trade? I have ARam as my other 3b, but not sure how he'll do this year.

My team (bats only):
C: JP
1: Goldy
2: Pedroia
ss: Rutledge
3: Manny
IF: Rizzo
OF: McCutchen/J.Upton/C.Davis
UT: Fowler
B: Aramis Ramirez/Crisp

Can't believe I'm saying this..but you don't need Votto (on value you win big) but given your team makeup you could use him and put Fowler on the bench and Aramis at 3b but that is a huge risk given his risk.

Keep Machado...wow whoever woulda thought...most 95% of the other times I'd see this I'd be like pull the trigger quick before this other guy realizes he's made a mistake.

Only an idea...maybe try to deal Fowler+Rutledge for a SS upgrade.

Votto doesn't fit your team, but I think you have to take this. Then look to move Goldy or something for 3B help, although putting A-ram in at 3B is solid.

This would have been a tougher decision when Fowler was hitting but I would advise you make the trade, then plug Ramirez into 3B and Votto into util. You have options to make room for Votto so the question is do you think Machado will have a better season from this point forward than Votto?
Here are Machado's minor career stats: .263 average, hit no more than 11 HR or stole more than 13 bases plus he didn't exactly light up the league last year in 191 at bats. Votto is a guaranteed .300 plus average, at least 20-25 HR and over 85 RBI with an outside chance of double digit steals. I'm not saying there isn't a chance Machado ends up with better numbers than Votto but the chances are probably low for this season in my opinion.

Take the trade and then figure out how to trade a 1b. I love Machado but on value you need to make this trade.

There is one place I would not make it. If this is a keeper league and there is a difference in future cost, as Machado will be a STUD for 10+ years.
