Derek Jeter what to expect?

Postby shoelessjoetara » Wed May 15, 2013 12:47 am

When is he supposed to return. Will his numbers when he returns and going forward. Would he be a better play than Alexia Ramirez or Josh Rutledge?

Rutledge on pace= 108 Runs,22 HR, 49RBI, 22SB,240 Avg.
Ramirez on pace= 54Runs, 4 HR, 31RBI, 27 SB, 276 Avg.

Will Jeter put up reasonable numbers?

Not worth owning in a 12 team mixed league imo. .280ish AVG, good R, no RBI, poor HR, poor SB.

This is a 14 team league and we have to play a MI, SS, and 2B.

I'd much rather have Rutledge, and probably Ramirez, too. The latter will put up similar numbers but he's also healthy and hasn't broken his ankle twice since the end of last season. Jeter is rosterable in a 14 team league but I wouldn't go out and trade for him or anything.

Assuming an 8/1 return date I'll say .285, 3 HR, 20 RBI, 30 R, 2 SB.

Crystal ball?

At this point I wouldn't expect much. He's not due back for awhile and as we've seen already, he's not immune to setbacks. He probably isn't worth owning in standard 12-teamers. In deeper leagues or leagues where you're hurting at MI he could be of some value. He should score runs at the top of the lineup and post a decent average. Besides that you're not getting much. I wouldn't expect much stealing from a guy coming back from ankle issues.

I'm a huge Jeter fan and I made sure to draft him in my league and wait out the storm. First Reyes went down and then Jeter rebroke his ankle and I went out and got ian Desmond. I also added Josh Rutledge in the first week so I have Desmond and Rutledge with Reyes on the DL in waiting. Jeter can play DH for me but I have 4 other DH elligible players.

Is Jeter worth adding in a 10 team league? I'd like to have him on my team as he will help batting avg obp runs walks. I worry Reyes won't be able to steal bases like I expected. I could try and trade him to upgrade SP and grab Jeter as a backup.

Thoughts?

10 team league? He's not worth keeping. Desmond and Rutledge are both way better than him at this point. You're just wasting a roster spot by keeping him.

Agreed. I have him stashed on the DL in a couple of leagues. He might be activated right to the wire in both instances.
