Drop 1 pitcher WHIR

Postby baegames » Sun May 12, 2013 10:31 pm

Need to drop a pitcher as I have Heyward returning (and I have been running with a very thin offensive bench).

Jeff Samardzija, ChC
Homer Bailey, CIN
Wade Miley, Ari
AJ Griffin, Oak
Paul Maholm, Atl
Andrew Cashner, SD
Jose Fernandez, Mia
Barry Zito, SF
Hyun-Jin Ryu, lAD

Relievers
Edward Mujica, StL
Ernesto Frieri, LAA
Rafael Betancourt, Col
Tom Wilhelsmen, Sea
Brandon League, LAD

Leaning towards League unless I can trade him.

Is this a points or roto league? Keeper or redraft? How many teams? How many SP/RP do you start?

Keeper but not dynasty. Start 5 SP, 2 RP, 2 of either. Head to head category. Weekly moves so I like having a long bench of pitchers to rotate in. I also have a couple of other pitchers who are not even in the discussion (such as Yu Darvish).

you didn't mention the other questions, but regardless, League seems like a decent drop that you shouldn't worry about regretting. Zito too, as I would never trust him enough to start him if you have all those other SPs (his current fast start notwithstanding). Cashner and Fernandez can be borderline guys depending on league format and size, but in a keeper league they are pitchers I'd hold on to even if I didn't start them too often in the short term.

I would go with Cashner or Zito before League. with that number of closers you should be able to move one to help you elsewhere

In an 8 team league you can drop League or Zito without worry.

Zito would be my 1st choice. Won't keep up his hot start all year. League 2nd choice.

good luck

Decided to drop League. I feel like I can start Zito at home and League was my 5th closer (and I have never started more than 3) and there are FA closers. Before I did so, though, I decided to see if I could get a player on the DL.

I traded League for Roy Halladay (figure it's probably worthless, but if he comes back in September (playoff season), that may help). Either way, it was a guy I was about to cut and I get Halladay instead (we have 9 DL spots).
