Cingrani for David Ortiz? WHIR

Postby aerrico » Wed May 08, 2013 1:29 pm

6x6 roto redraft (holds and OPS are extra categories)

Feel I need one more bat. Have been shopping pitchers and haven't gotten a ton of bites, even on a high end guy like Cliff Lee. Is it a good idea to sell high on Cingrani's hot start and get a nice power bat?

Current Roster:
C V Martinez
1B P Goldschmidt
2B B Zobrist
3B M Cabrera
SS J Rutledge
MI Dee Gordon
CI A Gonzalez
OF A Jones
OF J Bautista
OF A Pagan
OF N Swisher
UTIL N Arenado
UTIL J Ruggiano
UTIL Alexi Ramirez
BE A Hill
DL C Granderson

P C Lee
P J Peavy
P H Iwakuma
P T Cingrani
P P Maholm
P H Ryu
P STREAM SPOT
RP A Chapman
RP J Henderson
RP D Hernandez
RP J Benoit
RP L Gregerson

I feel like that's good value for Cingrani, especially since Dusty might send him back to the minors.
Your pitching is going to be very thin if you make that trade though.

Do others believe that my pitching becomes to thin making a deal for a bat?

I still feel that Lee, Greinke (when he comes off the DL), Peavy, Iwakuma, Maholm, Ryu, and a stream spot is a strong rotation. Am I overvaluing the guys that are on my team?

I wouldn't trade Lee, because then your pitching will be too thin. But Cingrani isn't as a sure thing, even though he has been so hot.

I agree you need the bat, do it. Do you need all those Relievers? Throw one in for a medium bat to go along with the deal, if you don't need one and the other guy does.

I would say yes only because you have 3 Utility slots. If you had only 1, shoehorning Ortiz there would be too difficult.

I think it would be wise to sell high on cingrani. Papi is good value for him and cingrani already started to come back down to earth in his last start. Not to mention the reds likely won't extend him too much this year.

I'd consider it to upgrade your UTLs. You can find pitching.
