Holliday for Sale or other pitcher? WHIR

Postby Ellsberries » Sun May 05, 2013 4:32 pm

Catagories H2H - R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., SLG., OPS.
SO, W, QS, SV, HD, ERA, WHIP
My lineup is as follows:

C - M. Napoli C, 1B
1B - A. Gonzalez 1B
2B - R. Cano 2B
3B - M. Prado - 3B, 2B, OF
SS - E. Andrus - SS
2B/SS - J. Rutledge - SS
1B/3B - P. Goldshmidt - 1B
OF - J. Bautista - OF
OF - C. Beltran - OF
OF - M. Trumbo - 1B, OF
OF - S. Marte - OF
OF- D. Nava - OF
Utility - V. Martinez - C
Bench - A. Ethier - OF
DL - J. Heyward - OF

P - C. Sale
P - M. Bumgarner
P - J. Zimmerman
P - J. Samardzija
P - M. Minor
P - J. Grilli
P - E. Frieri
P - A. Bailey
P - P. Corbin
Bench - C. Buchholz
Bench - H. Kuroda

I am in a shallow 10 team league (non keeper H2H) and am killing. Almost everyone in my lineup has performed well. However, my pitching is better than my hitting and I think I could make a trade with someone else for Holliday. I would need to give up probably Sale (who I'm not too confident in).

My concern here is that my pitching has overperfomed and that I will later regret trading Sale. However, Ethier is terrible this year, and if I get Holliday, I'll drop ethier and pick up someone for Holds.

Should I make this trade? If not, should I sit tight or pursue another hitter or pitcher?

Your pitching wouldn't be as good if it didn't have the depth with sale. But it could survive just fine without him. I'm not so sure you need to make this move. Having the depth of Holliday would be reassuring but you have Hayward.... He should bounce back then ur looking at an over crowded OF

I would worry more about Prato and ruteledge

I would try to sell on bucholtz

As a guy who hasn't handled big workloads as a starter, Sale is a good option to trade for some hitting. I say go for it.

Help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=460053

I have quite a similar pitching staff in my league and I would trade Sale for Holliday. You do have a bunch of outfielders, but they all have question marks, and adding the solid guy like Holliday would be quite nice.

Would you trade Zimmerman for Holliday? The owner of the other team doesn't want Sale but wants Zimmerman

I wouldn't do Zimmerman, Holliday is an upgrade but I agree with the earlier comments about looking to strengthen other spots (perhaps Rutledge or Prado) before getting set on Holliday, and then giving up even more than Sale...in this case Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is too much for Holliday, especially now when Zimms value is at its absolute peak. Rutledge is fine, a 15 HR 25 SB guy who will hit around 250 with 90 runs and 60 RBI. Prado is more of a question mark to me. If you are moving Zimm, you'd have to get very top talent at MI.
