Marte for Cueto

Postby Elsy » Sun May 05, 2013 8:11 am

14 team H2H 7x7(R HR RBI SB K AVG OBP W L SV K ERA WHIP QS) we also have a 15 man farm team

Have been hit by the injury bug pretty hard recently, is it worth it to do this deal:

Get - Starling Marte

Give - Johnny Cueto

Think is a pretty fair offer just don't know if it makes sense with the roster I have.

Current roster:

C - JP Arencibia, John Buck
1B - Allan Craig(also with OF), Brandon Moss(also OF), Chris Carter(also OF)
2B - Danny Espinosa(also SS)
3B - David Freese, Aramis Ramirez
SS - Jose Reyes(DL), Marwin Gonzalez(also 3B)
OF(3) - Josh Hamilton, Michael Morse, Michael Bourne(DL),Justin Ruggiano, Daniel Nava, Jason Kubel
UTIL(2) - Matt Carpenter(1B,2B,3B,OF)

SP - Stephen Strasburg, Brandon Morrow, Johnny Cueto(DL), Josh Johnson(DL), Travis Wood, Jonathan Pettibone, Kevin Slowey
RP - Aroldis Chapman, Jonathon Papelbon, Joe Smith, Al Alburquerque

Farm team(Prospects): Kaleb Cowart, Ryan Wheeler, Bryce Brentz, Daniel Rosenbaum, Barrett Loux, Chris Stratton, Justin Nicolino, Roberto Osuna, Chris Reed, Clint Coulter, Hunter Morris, Anthony Gose, AJ Jiminez, Albert Almora, Adeniy Hechavarria

Thanks for any input, leave a link and I will try and help on your question

I don't think I'd do that. I still value Cueto quite a bit higher than Marte. Marte is raking right now but he's unproven. Your outfield isn't in awful shape and it's not as though you have a surplus of pitching. (Assuming you start 3 OF) You either need to hope Hamilton gets going or try to trade him, Bourne should be back soon, Kubel, Nava, and Morse aren't going to be awful and have potential to over-perform expectations. Although not directly related to your question I'd be trying to trade some of your bench players. I'd trade one of your 3B and definitely wouldn't be eating up a roster spot carrying 2 catchers in a 14 team league, and I would think Chris Carter has almost no value for you.

If you can help me out I'd appreciate it viewtopic.php?t=459979

With Craig, Moss, and Carter manning 1b, you don't really need another OF. But I really like Marte in having a breakout year and I am not sure about Cueto's injury. If you think it is close I would pass with your roster. If you could also swing an OF for a better SP, I would take it.

I would drop Ruggiano for SP depth anything at all available?
Josh Hamilton, Michael Morse, Jason Kubel is a solid starting trio all three are capable of giving you about 70+ homers and not draining your peripherals. Plus you have a solid Bourn coming back next week you don't need Ruggiano.

There isn't really, was hoping Ruggiano would continue what he did last year but he hasn't really done much.

***EDIT*** Real only options would be Volquez, Porcello (both of whom were just dropped)or Lackey
