Pimp your favorite prospects and their hot starts

Postby kab21 » Sat May 04, 2013 7:01 am

For the first post I'm going exclusively Twins since some awesome things are happening in the minors at least. The MLB team is playing .500 baseball miraculously though.

First off:
Cedar Rapids (Low A) - 19-7 - this is good
Ft Myers (High A) - 23-4 - this is borderline ridiculous

Cedar Rapids
Buxton - .382/.504/.674/1.179 - 5 HR, 11SB
Walker - .287/.350/.574/.924 - 3rd rd college bat with 70 power potential - Herschel's son (edit - not Herschel's son - a different RB surnamed Walker that player for the Vikings in the late 80's)
Jorge Polanco - .350/.380/.500/.880 - signed the same year as Sano but doesn't project for much power at 2B - my sleeper before the season

Ft Myers
Sano - .363/.431/.725/1.157 - 9 HR's in a pitcher's league - only 5 errors at 3B so far
Rosario - .339/.374/.518/.892 - good reports on his defense

New Britain
Alex Meyer 28IP - 2-1 2.57ERA, 10.93 K/9 and 3.54 BB/9 - Control isn't quite there but there have been great reports on his stuff.

Rochester
Chris Colabello - .308/.363/.538/.901 - not really a prospect but he's got a bit of Evan Gattis story going. He played 8 seasons in the 8 team Canadian-American indy league before signing with the Twins last year at age 28. Played for Italy in the WBC.

Byron Buxton with a no doubt (possibly 450 ft HR) walk off GSHR.

Sano was just promoted to AA after hitting 16HR's in 56 games (1.067 OPS). That's in the FSL and not even Stanton was that good.

Rosario was also promoted to AA with a rather pedestrian .903 OPS in the FSL. Not overwhelming numbers overall but he's still 21 and there were encouraging reports about his defense.

Buxton is likely to be promoted next week from the midwest league (another pitcher's league) with a 1.001 OPS. Here's a video of a triple showing his speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OxX4ZX05WY

Alex Meyer has a sore shoulder. :~(

They have declined to carry FSN north in Taiwan. Perhaps I will sign up MiLB.tv someday but I don't have a lot of time to watch games other than whichever prime time (7am here) game is shown on our two baseball channels.

Right... I knew that. On a related note, I think it's a bunch of bull that they don't have fsn north in Taiwan. On another related note, buxton looks really good. I hope he doesn't hit a wall (either figurative or literal).

That's what I thought of when I saw the replay but it was pretty awesome.
