Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins are expected to be without outfielder Jeff Conine for Tuesday's season opener versus the Montreal Expos at Pro Player Stadium.
According to the Miami Herald, Conine is bothered by a sinus infection and has not played in a week. He also was limited during Monday's workout.
Conine, a 13-year veteran out of UCLA, was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles late in the 2003 campaign and batted .238 with five homers and 15 RBI in 25 games with the Marlins.
In 124 games with Baltimore, the 37-year-old Conine hit .290 with 15 home runs and 80 RBI.
If the Tacoma, Washington native is unable to go against Montreal, Wil Cordero or Abraham Nunez could take Conine's place.
