Dropped Middlebrooks for Arenado...right move?

Already have Headley at my 3B slot...this is strictly a UTIL position move. What do you think?

Bad decision IMO. Arenado has never even take a major league at bat so there is no telling what he will do. Middlebrooks is young too and doesn't have much experience but he's at least more proven. This move could work out for you, but you are definitely taking a risk.

Agreed, Arenado having never taken a MLB AB is a concern. But taking that out of the equation, would you regard Arenado's ceiling as higher than Middlebrooks? My concern with Middlebrooks is that he outperformed last year and his performance (AVG & K's specifically) so far this year seems to indicate a regression to me. Based on his minor league track record, Arenado has a tendency to hit for equivalent/better power numbers and better AVG, if those numbers hold up in the majors...but perhaps I'm trying too hard to make this into a good move.

Don't force the rookie pickup. They are sexy but Arenado has a checkered past and carries more uncertainty.

I fail to see how a consensus top-rated prospect is a forced pickup. And checkered past? Do elaborate...

It is the risky move. Dropping a proven player for an unproven player is a pure gamble.

It's a risky move, but since when is 3 months of production followed by 1-2 months of below average production considered a proven player (3 mos. of diminishing OBP/SLG at that - check out Middlebrooks's splits from last year).

Risky move, but Arenado has higher upside (and a much lower floor).

Help with mine:
