Grilli vs Putz vs Valverde

Postby alexhockey91 » Sun Apr 28, 2013 1:10 am

in my league i can only have 2 relief pitchers
i drafted valverde but he was NA, so there was a spot to put him in the NA spot and pick up another RP.

i now have Putz with Arizona and Grilli with Pittsburgh. Now that Valverde has 2 strong appearances and Detroit is a strong team i want to take him off the NA spot but i need to drop Grilli or Putz in order to do so

Grilli is 9 for 9 in saves this year while Putz has 3 blown saves but still has i think 5, my instincts tell me Putz is generally a better pitcher but i dont know.

I dont know enough about baseball to know between Arizona and Pittsburgh who is the better team and will offer more Save opportunities
and saves in the long run.

Can you guys please help me and explain to me who i should drop and why?

Thanks

I'd stick with Grilli & Putz. As a former Valverde, I know the highs and lows of owning him. He's looking strong now, but he can be unpredictable. Arizona / Pitts will be in more close games than the Tigers, who have the potential to blow people out.

Besides, if I'm wrong, just wait two weeks and pick up the next closer du jour :)

Hope this helps!

I think Valverde is going to have a big year. Last year he got worn out from the previous years' heavy workload. Still, I can't see dropping Grilli or Putz to add him. It might be better to hold Valverde on your DL if you can, and see if anything changes. If V is still pitching well, you might be able to get something in a trade to help your team.
