Dynasty League trade for Stanton

Postby rmessne » Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:49 am

I get: Giancarlo Stanton, Anibal Sanchez.
I give: Justin Upton and Hisashi Iwakuma (who has RP/SP eligibility, can put him in relievers spot).

After watching Stanton vent some frustration by launching one 472 ft, I am excited to possibly buy low on Stanton. I know Anibal won't K 17 batters all the time but he seems a solid starter, something my team lacks at my 5th spot. This is a points league dynasty where pitchers tend to score a bit more than hitters. My pitching has been struggling recently which is the main reason I have fallen to 1-2, probably about to be 1-3, if Iwakuma doesn't score a lot more than Hamels.

My team:
C: Mike Napoli
1B: Billy Butler
2B: Chase Utley
SS: Starlin Castro
3B: Evan Longoria
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Justin Upton
OF: Mike Trout
U: Mark Trumbo

Bench: Jason Heyward, Hanley Ramirez, Jason Kipnis, Oscar Taveras
NA: Jurickson Profar

SP: Madison Bumgarner
SP: Yovani Gallardo
SP: Matt Moore
SP: Josh Johnson
SP: Jordan Zimmermann
RP: Aroldis Chapman
RP: Jonathan Papelbon

Bench: Kyle Lohse, Hisashi Iwakuma, Alexi Ogando, Gerrit Cole, Dylan Bundy
DL: Jered Weaver

In case anyone is confused we are allowed 1 reserve NA spot (minor leaguers) and 1 DL spot. Should I take it? and after all of that typing I may as well ask what type of moves should I make? Waiver moves or trades. :-D

Some tasty looking pitchers available on waivers: Dan Haren, Brett Anderson, Parker, Chen
Keeper League Outfield: Justin Upton, Carlos Gonzalez, Mike Trout, Jason Heyward

I'd look at those tasty starters before I made this trade. It seems kind of like a lateral move, and if you're going to move Upton right now, who is the hottest hitter on the planet, you should really go for broke. Stanton and Upton aren't that far apart in a dynasty league.

You seem to have OF depth if Trumbo has OF eligibility. I would not make a lateral move. If you want to trade an OF pick up an ace pitcher to sit atop your rotation and that would all but lock it up.

I actually like both of the players you are giving up more than the players you are getting back. pass.

Instead of making a lateral move you have Heyward and Hanley sitting on your bench use one of those to acquire a top 5 starter you can get it done.

Agree with this. Right now, Upton looks more attractive, you might be able to get more today. However, I do like GStant's upside more than Upton.

Help?

Manny Machado is also on FA. Who should I drop for him?
