Postby ant92 » Wed Apr 24, 2013 10:04 am

Just as the title says. I have Holland, should i drop him for Villanueva?

My pitching staff is:

Cliff Lee
Wade Miley
AJ Burnett
Derek Holland
Wandy Rodriguez
Ross Detwiler

Holland seems to be healthy and pitching well, for a good offensive team with an excellent bullpen. Villanueva has hot starts then cools off quickly. I would stick with Holland.

Holland has been pitching well, and I don't think he is in any immediate danger of losing his job. I'd stick with him.

Your talk about 'losing his job' makes me think you are talking about the closer Greg Holland, while the topic is actually about starter Derek Holland. ;)

I like Holland over Villanueva or Quintana. Yes they opened strong, but Holland is a proven starter. You know he will keep putting up numbers for you the entire season. You dont know that about the other ones. Unless you are talking about a sure-thing stud (like a Strasburg, a Harvey, maybe Bundy later on), I would always advice to be careful with rookie starters.

I would take Quintana's upside over a flat rate cookie cutter back end starter in Detwiler.
