2B/SS: Uggla or Scutaro? ALL HELP RETURNED

Postby kaiser » Tue Apr 23, 2013 7:32 am

Please leave a link for help gladly returned.

10 team mixed roto non keeper

I currently am playing Dan Uggla at 2B/SS and Brandon Crawford at SS (Eric Aybar is on my DL, coming back this week.)

Marco Scutaro has been dropped to the wire. I'm really thinking about dropping Uggla for him. I know I take a hit in the power department, but Uggla's consistently horrible AVG is the one black hole in my roster, and Scutaro provides near the same projected runs and rbi, with an AVG that is around 100 points higher, minimum.

Any opinions on whether I should make the move?

Anyone else to drop? Uggla has been hitting some hard balls but can't seem to catch much luck. I agree though he won't hit more than about 230 this year if and when he gets going.

Scutaro isn't that impressive either. You will get a nice bump in average in return for less HR's and RBI's. I'd probably stick with Uggla. But it's close.

I agree that scutaro isn't that impressive. Although I am not a believer in the strategy of owning uggla, reynolds, or players a like that can hit 30HR while barring below .250 with ease. I don't think HR are worth it. If scutaro can hit for average still, I would take average over what uggla and reynolds can/can't do.

Since he's been playing hot I'm sure someone picked him up, but it is a ten team league so is J. Segura in FA?

If you can afford to lose ugglas power then i'd definitely get scutaro. Uggla can kill your avg

I'd find it hard to drop Uggla at this point as I'd want to see him in that Atl lineup down the road with Heyward and McCann back and healthy. I'd say you are gambling 2 or 3 categories for the possible .030-.060 increase in avg over the course of the season, so it's a tough call.

i do think that last year was a good sign that uggla wont do much again this year....

but at the same time scutaro doesnt appeal to me either. Its really a tossup. Since uggla hit a homer recently hold to see if he can hit one out in the next two days...that way he will have more "value" than scutaro it that means anything

Thanks for the help on mine....sorry for taking so long to respond...just got home from work.

I hate to say it...I think I would go with Uggla. Yeah he hurts the avg...but overall I had him ranked higher going into the season...has been slightly better so far...and I expect that to stay that way.

I'd keep Uggla. I like his 30 bomb potential. Sure he might hit 220 but I still would ride the power. Scutaro is overrated in my opinion and really doesn't do all that much. Keep Uggla.

please help my two posts...this one and the one about Matt Cain. Thanks.

I would not drop Uggla for Scutaro. Scutaro had some magic the last year or two but he's not a special player. Uggla misses a lot but he has the best power at the position, making him a valuable asset. You've gotta stick with the power.
