Who is the St. Louis Closer?

Postby Thread7 » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:45 pm

I had just been assuming it was Boggs. But watching the PHI-STL game tonight on MLB Network the announcers said "Mujica, the current closer is warming up in the bullpen". I thought maybe the announcers just didn't know any better. But I checked a few places online. The ESPN Closer Chart has Boggs, then Rosenthal, then Mujica. Yahoo seems to say it is Mujica. Any response by someone with in depth knowledge could throw Motte into the mix too. Would he be the odds on favorite once healthy?

Thanks.

As of right now the job is Mujica's.

Eh, people are speculating it's Mujica. The last official word from Matheny was that it was situational (a la a committee).

I think it's got to be Mujica at this point. Boggs is awful and Rosenthal doesn't appear ready.

looks like a mess. I would say Rosenthal would be the best bet for the rest of the season even though it might take another month or more to get the job.

I don't think it's official, but Mujica seems to be the guy for now. Boggs has been terrible! Rosenthal could be giving a chance down the road, but right now I want Mujica.

After watching Rosenthal's last appearance I feel like he is about to go on a tear.
