Kazmir or Arroyo (...or A-Rod?)

Postby Knights » Fri Apr 19, 2013 11:15 pm

16-team H2H keeper league.

Another owner dropped A-Rod, and he comes off waivers this week. I'm tempting to pick him up if he clears.

If he doesn't, I'm considering picking up a spot starter for tomorrow... either Arroyo vs Miami or Kazmir vs Houston.

I think I've decided to snag A-Rod if no one puts a claim in on him... I figure he's worth a stash for a late season playoff push, right??

But if he's claimed, do I go for Arroyo or Kazmir for a spot start?

Arod...

Comes back maybe in July.
Gets 50 game supension for either taking PEDs or destroying the documents that he took PEDs.
I would not waste a waiver claim on him. Nor would I waste a bench slot unless you just have no one else to fill it with.

For spot starter, anyone against Houston is a good bet, but I do not think much of Kazmir so it might be too risky depending on what your ratios are this week.

I'd rather use Arroyo against Miami than chance it with Kazmir. Kaz will likely get a lot of K's but at a price and probably not many innings. Arroyo has a high likelihood of a W and some decent ERA/WHIP.

Kazmir looked good this Spring and his work seems to have paid off, I'd go Kazmir and leave A-rod alone..

I would probably go Arroyo over Kazmir (and I speak as a Kazmir fan) if you want safety in a spot start, but Kazmir is more likely to shut out the Astros with a bunch of Ks.

Kazmir is also more likely (though not likely) to be owned long term.

And leave A-Rod alone. DL until AS Break + 50 game suspension + not the same player he used to be = ?
