And for some reason, I'm holding Boggs for speculative saves down the road, and I still had him in my active lineup even though he's been terrible :-P

The Twins are above .500 and the Royals are leading the Central. Let's not dismiss this as the AL Central sucks but be happy that these teams are beating any MLB teams.

2 start Haren (Cards and Reds), Fernandez (MIN) or Buehrle (NYY)? Haren should be a slam dunk in a pts league (24 tms) but I still don't want to start him.

I'm not starting him against StL and probably not Cinci either. I'd probably go with Fernandez. But then again I have Mitchell Freaking Boggs in my active lineup so clearly my judgment is not to be trusted.

Still not getting it with him. His upside seems to be Marco Scutaro. Yeah it is viable but certainly nothing to get excited about.

How is upside only Scutaro?
Carpenter has more power, more position eligibility, hits at the top of a much better lineup, and has had a great OBP throughout his pro career... .400+ at every MiLB level. Whats not to like?
Not sure if you realized it or not but hes a pretty big guy - 6'3 and 200+ so he's not some little slap hitting hobbit like Scooter.
I mean Scutaro has never even had a league average ISO and is borderline un-rosterable in 12 team leagues.
Carpenter should be owned in 100% of leagues and started most of the time.

Carpenter has never displayed more than 15 HR pop or 10 SB speed at any point in his career outside of extreme hitters league when he was old for the league. He still profiles as something like a 14 HR, 7 SB guy and that is being generous. Most likely he is like 12 HR, 4 SB. If people are expecting Prado or Zobrist they are in for a big disappointment because he is much more Scutaro than either of those.

.306, 161 R+RBI, 16 HR+SB is what Scutaro put up last year. I don't expect Carpenter to beat those numbers by much if any.

I have him in a points league. In 5x5 I would be a lot less excited, I imagine, but I get great value from his OBP, and as I said, I'm pegging him for 100+ Runs unless they drop him in the lineup.

Ok well a points league makes some sense then. He does a lot of good things that don't translate into 5x5.
