Vlad. If it's a standard 5x5 league, as someone pointed out, Vlad will help in all 5 hitting categories (especially steals) and RJ will only help in 4.
Upsides for Vlad:
1) Entering his prime. Scary to think that this beast can get even better. I'm guessing he'll get his 40/40 season this year. Maybe even 45/45.
2) Contract is up at the end of this season. Monster numbers increase his market value so you know he'll come through. Also because of this he might be traded to a contender mid-season so the Expos can save like $4 million.
3) 20 games in Puerto Rico in a tiny ass stadium.
4) Proven very durable
Downsides for Vlad:
None
Upsides for Randy:
Best pitcher, bar none. Always a pitching Triple Crown threat.
Downside:
He's old. When is his arm going to run out of gas? An injury that can make him miss 3-5 starts would really decrease his value. He has to break down eventually, and this season may be it.
The gist of it is, right now Vlad and Randy are pretty equal, but Vlad only has room for improvment while Randy only has room to fall.

If someone could gaurantee me that the Unit wouldn't get hurt then I would pick him. Of course, you could say the same thing for Vlad, but lets face it, the Unit is much more likely to get injured than Vlad. I'd take Vlad 100 times out of 100 and be happy I didn't take a big gamble with my first round pick.
Swing hard, just in case you hit the ball.

I see a lot of these posts discussing categories when, if I'm not mistaken you said points league. Categories don't mean much if it's a points league. If it's a one year league, you take RJ hands down, he'll easily be the biggest point producer in the league.
