Exactly how I feel about it. It was fun for a while, but I traded him for swisher before his last 2 starts.

He has been throwing a lot more off speed pitches in recent starts. His start against the Cubs in which Soriano took him deep twice, he was throwing only fastballs early on in the game and started to mix in a change up and a curveball later in the game. Yesterday he started to throw his curve and change early on in the game, but wasn't throwing them for strikes. The Phillies did a good job in laying off them and waited for the fastball.

His K/9 dropped off considerably after he started to mix in off speed pitches. It will be interesting to see what happens in the minors now.

It was a lot of fun to watch him throwing fastball after fastball in his first few starts. It's funny how things are. Before when he was being successful and throwing 95% fastballs people would be saying he needed a secondary pitch to be successful. Now that he has been throwing more off speed pitches and isn't having the same type of success, I've been reading that they should have never have messed up with the kid. lol.

I think he comes back up sooner than later. Bad Leake performances or a staff injury. If you can afford a dead spot on your bench for a little bit, he's worth picking up if he's been dropped in your league.

I dropped him in my league. My rationale is that even if he does come back, there's a lot of good young pitching prospects that may be called up by mid-season. There's no point hoping that a) he comes back soon, b) he comes back and is effective (he was pretty mediocre the last few starts) and c) There isn't an even better pitching prospect called up before him that I'd rather put on my bench.

You'd think he's going to go back down and use his secondary offerings a whole lot more than when he was down there to start the year...so I expect slightly different results and any good outings are a good sign if this is the case since it will be done with his secondary offerings being a higher priority....at least that's my assumption, so I could be way off.

That is exactly what I want to know as well, J. Just reading his line from last night doesn't say much. We know he can blow away hitters in the minors with his fastball.

111 pitches for Cingrani tonight against Columbus.

5IP 3H 1R 1ER 5BB 9K.

He was at 83 pitches after 3 innings. Tight strikezone, but he did struggle with control of his fastball. He mixed in a few breaking balls and was able to locate them better than I have seen in the past. Hitter are still not swinging at anything off speed from him.

His 1 run given up tonight snaps a streak of 21 scoreless innings at AAA.
