Pierre might have an alright OBP but you have a 2nd hitter with a .340-.350 OBP. And you name Solano which is a significant inflation compared to pretty much every other set of projections out there.

I agree that lineup protection is overrated in most cases but most cases don't have an elite hitter followed by someone that would bat 8th on most teams. Or not even be in the starting lineup.

Part of his fantasy value is R's and there are some terrible hitters behind him.

I actually haven't said anything about Stanton having a terrible season. He will hit his HR's because he's pretty awesome but the counting stats will be down. I don't think he will make it to 180 R+RBI's and 200 would be shocking.

Yeah I don't think he gets 200+ either but that is where I had him valued before the season so I guess I don't see it as a concern now. We knew the lineup would be bad so that should have been built into people's projections already.

Agreed. Relative to last year, the bump to his numbers from an expected higher number of games played versus the drag from the rest of the lineup should be expected to roughly offset eachother. Last year's total was 161 so it isn't like anyone should be banking on 200+ in their projections.

Apparently struggling with shoulder problems, now that is something I am concerned about.

I think I found an error in today's boxscore:

Sent Medlen and Parnell for him last night. Could reap huge rewards... or not. Hoping he returns to form in the near future.

I was also going to post this today. The injury concern scares me much more than lineup protection.

wow. I traded just Beltre for him at the start of the season. Neither of them has been great but I'm pretty happy with the swap.

I'm surprised nobody bumped this thread...

3 HRs in the last 2 days. Guess who decided to show up at the dinner party.
