Chance for Nice Upgrades... WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Sun Apr 07, 2013 1:55 am

I have a guy who seems willing to give me Miguel Montero and Matt Harvey. I'd give him Salvador Perez, and then the question becomes how to complete the equation. Maybe I give him Machado, and possibly Jose Fernandez. Anyway, I am trying to weigh what makes sense. I would like Harvey to lengthen my rotation, and I'd like Mintero to give me more power and walks at catcher. But are these the guys to target? Would I be better off trying to give up a are ere and pieces for Austin Jackson to sure up my utility?

Please advise. My team and his below.

If my previous post seems vague, the better question is simply what player(s) of his would best plug holes in my team whom I could afford to shell out for? So for example, getting Castro would likely cost me Stantin in a package so it's not worth it... But there are lesser guys who could help me.

Actually I like the idea of moving someone like stanton to boost your MI. It's your only weakness really and I think moving Melky into your OF isn't terrible and then getting some solid pieces in return. Stanton is going to have a tough year in MIA. A lot more BB, a lot less R and RBI's

His OF is really weak. If I had his team I wouldn't trade A-Jax. I think finding a way to get Castro or Kipnis is the correct route to help you.

How about something like...

Stanton/Perez/Weaver

Castro/Montero/Harvey/Jackson

As you know I'm not high on Weaver this year, and Stanton is your biggest trade bait. You either get a slight upgrade or at the very least break even at catcher, you get a stud pitcher, an underrated OF who is at the top of the best lineup in baseball, and a major upgrade at SS.

He is presumably getting a top 10 bat, a perceived top 10 pitcher, and a catcher that had the highest OPS in his rookie year since Johnny Bench.

Good thinking. While I am concerned about Stanton on that marlins team, I do need to make sure I recoup the power loss. Ideas? Also, any way to swing over Lester instead of weaver?

Not sure if Lester gets the deal done, but I'm telling you Lester puts up better numbers than Weaver this year anyway.

And, with Fielder/Cabrera/Upton/Braun I'm not sure you will really be missing out on too many HRs, but I understand the concern. But that can always be fixed later. You will have a lot of nice depth, and a lot of speed too (Altuve, Segura, Revere, Jackson, Simmons) that you could always flip for power.

Any good deals come to mind that don't involve Stanton?

Maybe take out Stanton on your end and Castro on his end?

Perez/Weaver

for

Montero/Harvey/Jackson

Basically in my mind it comes down to Weaver for Harvey/Jackson. It's up to you for your preferences. Maybe you try Lester in that deal instead of Weaver, but I think...

1). Lester ends up better than Weaver this year, fantasy-wise
2). Harvey is a stud, Jackson is a stud, and both need to be overpaid for a tad in order to get them
