IF dilemma SP excess Roto Keeper WHIR

Postby Philly_05 » Sat Apr 06, 2013 1:27 pm

I'm short on my IF and have a excess of SP's that I can't see dropping outright but I can't find a trade partner so early in the year. I have had two guys sniffing around Shelby Miller and Matt Moore. But the offers i'm getting for them are total crap. Probably has something to do with them knowing I need a IF bat to fill my lineup and have no interest in giving me a decent offer to do it.

First guy has Rizzo and Kipnis who he won't trade at all. He's been pushing Cuddyer on me for the likes of Miller and Moore. Both pitchers have keeper values in the 20th round Cuddyer is in the top 10 instant drop in the off season imo. Next guy wanted me to trade him Hanley and Wainwright to get Howard. Now it's Howard for Matt Moore and Nunez. Howard is 3rd round keeper next year instant drop in off season imo. He refuses to trade Goldschmidt who has good keeper value for the round he was drafted.

The WW is total trash or I could see just dropping guys to make a move. But I can't bring myself to drop a Miller or Fernandez for a Daniel Descalso or Placido Polanco type. All this would be fixed if Profar would have made it out of spring or Hanley hadn't of gotten hurt. But such is fantasy baseball.

My best case scenario would be to drop a pitcher for someone like Carlos Ruiz. He isn't playing now but he's better than the options available. I could move Carlos Santana down to IF and start Ruiz at C. Or I could stash a kid like Travis D'Arnaud, Mike Zunino, Nolan Arenando or Jonathan Singleton. All players who could see time this year. But again doesn't help me now.

This is my roster thoughts? Cut, Trade stand pat? I'm in 2nd place so far 16.5 back of 1st. My AVG and K's are good. My HR, R, RBI SB are all bottom 3. Top 3 in W, SV, K, HLD, ERA and WHIP.

Tough spot - but if it's me I'm sending everyone in the league a trade proposal (that obviously works out in my favor) and see what they bounce back with. Someone is bound to work a deal that you can stomach. Sounds like your WW is trash, so I'd agree that's definitely not worth any drops.

Thank for the help on mine. You and I have very similar problems. I would suggest you cut Jose F., yes he is a great prospect, but you have a strong team. DO NOT trade a SP if you are getting screwed and yes you are getting screwed. Wait it out, pick up a fill at CI and see what comes around. These guys just know you are worried about it and they want to take advantage of the situation. I have Brian "Douche" Roberts at CI, so I feel your pain, but I will not ever panic early and give more than I get.

Would you guys cut Bauer or Fernandez? Bauer would have to be kept at a 14th round value next season. Fernandez would be kept at a 26th round value. I know it's super early on Fernandez. But Bauer hasn't shown a ton at the major league level and looked back this spring.

I would try my hardest to swing a deal with someone before cutting anyone. But if you have to cut someone, I guess it'd have to be Bauer (only because Fernandez' 26th round value is very good.

D'Arnaud is not a bad idea if you can use him at the IF position. He'll be up very soon. Looked awesome in Spring Training and is still tearing the cover off the ball in the minors.

I would try to make a deal like everyone said but the trades you said are really bad for you so I wouldnt do any of those. If you have to drop someone I think its Bauer.

What is in FA just wondering?
I'd deal off a pitcher for CI and then just snag up the best MI you can outta FA even if it is bleh. Its better than nothing.
You can't do the Howard trade simply because it is not making you any better it would open two holes you can't fill.

I'd tell them both to go jump off a cliff into broken glass. lol
