Wright & Bourn for Longoria & N Cruz? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 3:48 pm

I'm looking for more power overall, esp in the OF. I am almost certain the other owner will go for this trade. I do gain quite a few HR/RBI/OPS, but lose a bunch of SB. I have some good depth at SB with Reyes, Upton, Weeks, and Choo. And Cruz, if healthy, would replace a few of Bourn's SB as well. My preference would be to replace Cruz with A Jones, but I am sure the other owner will say no to that one.

Bottom line: would this make me better?

ESPN, h2h each cat, 12 team, 4 RP max, daily roster changes. Cats: standard 5x5 plus OPS, QS. Non-keeper. I stream 2-5 SP weekly.

C Victor Martinez

UTIL Ike Davis
Bench Micheal Cuddyer

SP Yu Darvish
SP Kyle Lohse
SP Mike Minor, Derek Holland (streamers)
RP Rafael Soriano
RP Sergio Romo
RP Grant Balfour

I would take this trade. You have enough speed to buffer the loss of bourn. only way i see you losing in this trade is if longoria is unable to stay healthy

I think it's a fair enough trade, but if it were me, I'd take the 3Bs out entirely. The power difference between a Bourn and Cruz is large enough to play it out. I'd keep Wright, since he's such a nice source of power and speed.

I'd start with Bourn and Cruz and the two pieces, and since Bourn would in theory be the more valuable player, I'd see if you can swap pitchers and upgrade Lohse a bit as well. If you're a bit bolder, I'd go Bourn and a solid closer (and Victor Martinez since in a 12-team league there should be fine C options left) and make that run at Jones, though I'm a bit skeptical as well. Since it's a points league, you could grab one of those crazy RPs that aren't closers but have a ridiculous k rate for points.

With a shallow league and only one bench spot (wow), there have to be plenty of opportunities on both hitting and pitching diamond in the roughs and guys on a hot streak. The key, in my opinion, is to get those special players that will be a permanent fixture in your lineup. In a league that shallow, I'd be willing to trade almost all but those core guys to get another core guy.

Good luck!

I think this is an alright deal as well. I also like what fsbarren has to say on it by taking out the 3B out of the deal and just working it as an OF deal. Also since I have wright on my team have a soft spot for him, but if you do include the 3B in the deal still an ok swap.
