Which SP to drop? Estrada, Buchholz, Ryu, Teheran

Postby st3v3k4hn » Thu Apr 04, 2013 2:55 pm

I play in a H2h categories league (standard 5x5, daily changes, 6 add/drops per week). I went into the draft with the idea of punting AVG, loading up on SP and power / speed guys. At this point I think I may need to drop an SP to address some other areas of weakness (I can always stream SP anyway, and I have Beachy on the DL for later in the season). My 1st four SPs (see roster below) are untouchable and I really like Minor based on his 2nd half last year. I grabbed Estrada mostly based on CBS touts, and for his Ks. Buchholz looked great all spring and the buzz is his new manager (old pitching coach) has got him right. Ryu looked pretty good despite the 10 hits, maybe he is this year's Darvish? And Teheran has looked great all spring, since he went back to his old throwing mechanics.

So, if you had to drop one of these pitchers, who would it be? Thanks.

Stephen Stausburg. JK. I'd wait until Teheran's start and see how he does. If he pitchers like he did during Spring training, I'd drop Clay. If he messes up though, I'd drop him.

I'm really leaning towards Teheran, he has never thrown more than 140 innings, I'm afraid the Braves will limit his innings this year, is that a valid concern?

I kind of doubt it will be a problem.
He threw 142 innings is 2010, 164 inngings in 2011 and 137 last year. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect 180+ innings out of him.
