I'm loving me some Davis. I drafted him as my third OF for $3, hoping for a repeat, or even near repeat of last season. Looks like he's finally breaking out. Could end up a huge steal for pretty much all who drafted him. Even if he fades big time, he has basically helped to win me HR's, AVG, OPS, and RBI this week, and that alone is worth the $3 I spent on him. Anything else is gravy. And there could be a shitton of gravy if the early going is any indication of what's to come. Guy is flat locked in right now.
I feel really bad for Giancarlo Stanton. Dude is one of the most talented young players in the game, and in most lineups over a full season would be a lock for 40+ HR's, and probably 50+. Not to mention 100+ RBI easy. But he's literally surrounded by a bunch of minor leaguers. He should still put up decent power numbers, but with no protection, I doubt he gets to 40 HR. He'll probably have a line of something like: .275-38-90-75-5. Which is pretty good in a vacuum, but absolutely sucks when you consider he could put up a line of .280-45-115-100-5 with ease in most other lineups.
And along those lines, I feel bad for us baseball fans who could be watching one of the best power hitters of this generation perennially mash 45+ HR's, with multiple 50+ HR seasons and probably at least 1 or 2 60+ HR campaigns sprinkled in along along the way. We're being robbed of that, and that sucks too. We can only hope he gets out of Florida as soon as possible. How soon is that likely to happen? I don't know the ins and outs of all that kind of stuff, so those in the know, is there light at the end of this tunnel anytime in the near future?
