What to offer for Yu? WHIR

Postby disasterisk » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:29 pm

I'm looking to trade for Darvish, what would be a good starting offer?

12 team h2h 5x5 categories

C - M Napoli
1B - P Goldschimdt
2B - J Gyorko
3B - E Longoria
SS - J Lowrie
OF - B Harper
OF - M Trout
OF - A Craig
UT - A Rizzo
UT - J Willingham
Bench - E. Bonifacio, Y. Alonso, S. Perez, O. Taveras, J. Profar

SP - J Peavy
SP - K Medlen
RP - A Ogando
RP - S Miller
P - J Samardzija
P - H Ryu
P - M Scherzer

DL - C Tillman

This is a keeper league, each owner gets to keep up to 3 players for however long they want, with no loss of draft picks. So Trout and Harper are staying put.

I think I have a pretty well balanced offense, especially once Bonifacio gets 2B eligibility.

I was thinking Craig for Darvish.

You would need to do Craig and at least one other great player, especially considering all Craig has really proven is that he's great at getting hurt (yes, I know if you extrapolate his numbers over 600+ ABs, he looks like a stud, but he actually has to make those 600+ ABs).

I would try either Craig or Goldschmidt with one of your younger unproven bats like Taveras or Profar. There's only 3 pitchers I would want ahead of Darvish, and those are Kershaw, Verlander, and Strasburg. And I'm not basing this on his near-perfect game. He could have been shelled, and I would still think this. Darvish knows the American game now, and will/has adjusted accordingly. Big year ahead for him.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

If I was to offer Craig and a pitcher, which pitcher would you suggest?

Never make an offer for a guy who just almost pitched a perfect game no less. You're going to buy high, which is never a good thing. Wait till he cools off or target someone else if he doesn't.

It's a simple rookie rule of thumb :-?

Take my advice on this one unless you play in a league of morons.

If you want to do Craig + a pitcher, I would try Miller or Ogando. Miller would probably make the trade more possible. Be prepared to still have that rejected though.

What I'm saying is that I don't think his perceived value is going to decline if he goes into a slump over a stretch of games. Barring injury his arrow is only pointing up, which is why you buy now.
