Being too greedy, or should I accept?

Postby sn267537 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:16 pm

10 team h2h

(he needs a 2 Catcher to start)

I give: kinsler and Miguel montero
I get: weaver and B. Philips

Am I being too greedy by wanting a better SP than weaver if I'm trading kinsler?

We start 2 catchers. so catchers hold more value in this league than others
M. Montero is my 3rd catcher on my roster.

Weavers strike out rate has declined big time over the last 3 years, so that's unattractive to me

no, you're not being too greedy... don't really feel like you're getting enough back considering the value you're sending him.

I originally sent

Kinsler, m. Montero, j. Hellickson for f. Hernandez and b. Philips

He liked it, but since Felix is his best SP he wasn't willing, I feel like if I added in kyu from LAD, or j. Niese he might like it better? Or am I asking for too much do u think?

Thanks for ur reply, appreciate it, glad I'm not alone in this

I agree, asking for more than Weaver is fair. Kinsler is super solid.

I disagree, you are being extremely greedy.

By your own admission, you don't need Montero. So this deal is really Weaver and Phillips for Ian Kinsler. Kinsler is worth more than Phillips I'd agree, but is he worth a "Jared Weaver" more than Phillips?

I'm assuming it's a 5X5..Phillips had similar HR and SB and a better batting average last year. Kinsler still worth more because of upside and a an advantage in projected counting stats. But he's not worth a Jared Weaver more.

Want to take advantage that I have the extra C on my roster because of the value they hold. weaver is nice, but his k/9 ratio has gone down every year for 3 years now. I realize Philips and kinsler are similar stat based

But then I'm trading my 3rd round pick for a 5-6th round pick in weaver........ Doesn't make sense to me to do that.

Might as well just do m. Montero for weaver, and that won't happen,

Not being greedy, I wouldn't make that trade as is, not much of a Weaver fan and you're giving up the best player in the deal, I'd want a better pitcher back.

I'd 100 % want more back in this trade, and I might actually think twice about dealing Montero in a 2 catcher league unless youre getting a very big haul.

Montero holds too much value in this league to give him up for slight step down at 2B and a pitcher whose numbers point to regression this year. He still has a big name, but I think most people expect the numbers to be lacking.

Are there other owners in the league with a weak 2nd catcher spot? I would not just give up on Montero that easily...he's a great bargaining chip. You need to get everything you can out of him.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Exactly how I felt. Don't want to just give him up

This is the first manager to come to me about wanting m. Montero

I figure I'll wait for them to come to me, after a while I'll start shopping him myself if I need too
