Too much for Strasburg?

Postby plamb23 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:07 am

12 team 5x5 Roto keeper

C Rosario
1b Votto
2b Kinsler
SS Aybar
3b Zimmerman
MI Rutledge
CI Freeman
OF Trout
OF Cutch
OF Craig
OF Marte
UT Fowler
UT Machado
BN Duda
BN B Roberts
DL Eaton
DL Drew

P Price
P Halladay
P Josh Johnson
P Hammel
P Milone
P McDonald
P Gee

Would like to improve my SP and haven't had any luck shooting low so I thought I might gamble---

What do you think about offering
Craig
Kinsler
Halladay
for
Strasburg
Cespedes

Is this a good offer and/or does it help my team?

I like Craig but he always gets hurt, and I hate Kinsler
Thanks
Whir if you leave a link

I like it for you. You are giving up a lot, but you are also getting the two best players in the deal imo. That being said, I'd probably have a really hard time accepting it if I was the one giving up Strasburg/Cespedes.

Thanks for your help with mine!

you would be underpaying. If you can get him to accept this, its a no brainer. Craig numbers were ok last year but we was drafted way to early in my opinion. He has the worst history of staying healthy and for some reason people forget about this if a player is healthy "right now". Hopefully he accepts. Good luck.

Well you have Rutledge who can slide to 2b and IMO doesn't really downgrade you that much on upside. Like the trade for you if you can do it. Who would be your MI?

Thanks for the help, sometimes over value my own players--didn't see underpay. What would be a better offer if this one is not taken? The manager also has Cain-- would you try him in Strasburg spot?

My MI would be Aybar and B Roberts, and have Profar on my minor league roster

id just send the original offer out and see what comes back. He might accept right away, especially if his team isnt very deep.

Big underpay. Halladay has no value in that deal, Craig gets injured too often, and Kinsler can be too inconsistent at times.

If you really want Strasburg, I think you need to load up on young talent to get him. First off, it would be incredibly difficult to get him without giving up Price. You'd probably have to sell the heck out of J. Johnson as a potential boom for this year, and then throw in a combo of Freeman/Eaton/Rutledge. If he is desperate enough for talent/depth, then he may sell Strasburg for a bunch of spare parts/talent.

I'm just not sure you have the players to get it done. I would say Trout and McCutchen are untouchable, as their value surpasses the value of Strasburg. But I wonder consider combos of other players.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

you have some really good trade bait actually so keep at it. Sometimes trades take awhile. Try to get a feel for what players he likes. There are plenty of people that are really high on guys like Fowler, Machado even Marte.

Looking at your team a little closer though, this is a great trade to try and get done. After Price, your pitching needs serious help. Really two of your bench guys should be pitchers. Strasburg would be huge obviously but you may even need another decent Sp after that. 4 of your SP are in the high risk category for me/. Getting rid of halladay is a good step to make though.
