110 pitches, 8 IP, 2H, BB, 9K, O ER...ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?

Completely shut down the Pirates today. Two balls hit sharply all day, both fell in for hits. Most of his strikeouts came on changeups and breaking balls. Looked like he was throwing five pitches today, and the splitter generated a ton of groundouts. He may have been able to go for the CG SO if Lillibridge doesn't boot a routine double-play ball in the first inning. Dominating start to the season.

edit- correction, 110 pitches

I'm not saying that he won't have a great year, but the Pirates are atrocious. He looked good, I'd like to see him against the Cards/Brewers/Reds.

Don't worry marmol will blow the save.
Dominate is a verb. Dominant is an adjective.

He is a prime sell high candidate around June. His mechanics fall apart when he gets tired which he will as the season goes on and the fact he is so slider heavy generally leads to a ton of wear and tear on the elbow. Once the Cubs are out of it by the all star break I expect him to slip a lot. Take the upside for 2 months and turn it into a better long term investment at that point.

Funny, he had an awful June last season then dominated the rest of the way. 2.58 ERA post-ASB, 4.71 pre-ASB. There is not a track record of him falling apart as the season wears on. He got stronger last season. He has a "young" arm for a 28-y/o. I'll be looking for any velocity falloff as danger signs, but I don't think I'll be selling at any point this season. I still think 3.40/1.20 with 200K is very realistic for this guy.

Yeah he finished great last year. Carried my NL Only team into the money. I think he's a good bet to significantly out-earn his draft day cost. One of those guys that flies under the radar.

There is not a track record on him period, he has under a full season of data to go on as a starter. His great 2nd half was built around LOB% more than anything and they shut him down in September when he was tired.
