Compare that to a Cuban player with poor plate discipline and a very short MiLB track record. Or to a late rd draft pick...

or even better, a Cuban player with very little minor league experience, having never thrown a pitch above A-ball: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... rnan009jos

haha... Lots of risk on both sides, but hitters are generally far less risky. At least he's off to a good start.

Bidding ends tonight for Hernandez in my NFBC and with a $1000 budget, can anyone argue throwing $250 out to get Fernandez?

I think the minimum to get him will be $200

I wouldn't argue that. I've played in a really competitive league with $100 and I remember Braun getting a $55 dollar bid. If by looking at the rosters, you don't think anyone is desperate enough to go higher then that. Go for it. But there are probably teams that think they a good pitcher away from winning the league so they may bet the house on him. He's one of the best prospects to be called up this year and you'd be getting a full season of him. But there is a chance hitters catch on to him and you waste your bid.

Yeah, aren't most NFBC leagues pretty aggressive on young guys...I'm going to guess $250 isn't enough.

wow, your leagues really drinking the Kool-Aid :-o , hes a little too young n raw for that kinda bidding. I own him in 3/4 leagues so I hope he pans out to be worth that much but that certainly seems like A LOT to me

Not necessarily the league...all it takes is one guy to really like him and he'll bid high. I figured it would have been over $500.
