I grabbed him in a mixed league but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Perhaps just a notch below Bunday, at least in the same tier as Wheeler/Walker.

Really unbelievable that the Marlins of all teams would throw service time out the window.
Bummed i passed on him in the supplemental prospect draft of the one league where he was not already owned. Didnt think there was any way he saw MLB action before september.

Obvious desperation move by the front office to sell tickets and keep their jobs in the near future, absolutely no regard for what's best for Fernandez.

I agree ;-D . Much harder for a hitter to adapt to MLB pitching, where as a young pitcher can succeed with good command of pitches.

Since when do the Marlins do anything smart. B-)

I certainly wouldn't want to pick him up in a no bench league. More of a stab and stash. I'd much rather have Miller than him for this year.

What type of pitchers would you drop for him? Wandy, Hammell type pitchers?

He has the potential to stay in the rotation all year with a 9+ k/9 and an era around 4. But his highest level is A+, so I don't see that happening. I think he would've been much better off getting added to the roster next year.

If you are pitching deep and have a guy you could drop and possibly pick up later why not give upside a shot and jump on board. I just dropped Wandy for him on a team that rosters 8 SPs.

A prospect who hasn't pitched above A-ball? No thanks. I'll let someone else screw with their roster.

Well he is pretty much a consensus top 3 to 4 pitching prospect and an overall top five to ten prospect. Very advanced for his age. If you have the bench spots, he is worth the risk. I wouldn't drop an established pitcher for him.

Completely agree, rushed but still worth a roster spot due to high upside.
