Ortiz for Hardy?

Postby Habituous » Tue Mar 26, 2013 2:23 pm

I've been proposed a trade in which I'd receive JJ Hardy for David Ortiz. Normally I would say no without hesitation, but as a Red Sox fan I saw last year how nagging this injury became for Ortiz (and am aware of how long it took Ryan Howard to return from a similar injury). Currently I have no backup SS, and with Tulo as my SS I am concerned, seeing as he is made of glass. Furthermore, the scoring in our league is bizarre compared to what I'm used to, and can reward HR hitters in the HR, GSHR, and GWRBI categories (Papi has historically been a source of GWRBI for the Sox). Given Papi's uncertain nature (I'm thinking at least early May for a return) and my need for a legit SS in case Tulo breaks a nail, I feel like this is a short term positive for me, although I would hate to pull the trigger and have this guy beat me because Papi goes on a power surge at the right time later in the year. While I never rely on ESPN (the location of our league) predictions, based on our scoring setting, Hardy projects at more points than Ortiz. Our league's roster and scoring settings as well as my roster are below. I'm happy to provide a look at your team in return if you want as well.
