Deep SP sleeper: anyone else on board ?

Postby Nighttrain » Mon Mar 25, 2013 4:29 pm

I play in 12-team H2H y! League. Most teams roster 8-9 sps so sp is thin. With eraso Ramirez heading to the BP, I needed another sp. in my research I found a deep sleeper that is undrafted in every league. His name is Jose Quintana. So far he has been nasty in the spring and looks like he is going to be the best SP in Chicago this year. He had a great first half and tailed off in the second half as most rookie sps do. I feel his k rate will improve and his tailing off will be much later this year. Thoughts?

Great article I found in my research.

Not sold on his K/9 but I guess you could do worse.

living in chicago, if quintana can pitch like he did out of the chute last year then you'll be OK with your prediction. he came across some tough times during the adjustment phase of last year so that's why he isn't a household name, but he's had a stretch of a month or two where he pitched well enough to warrant fantasy consideration so if you wanna bet on him adjusting to the adjustments and unleashing the kind of pitching he started off with last year, welp, you can do a lot worse.

take a look @ my thread would ye?!!? viewtopic.php?t=457100

For late round, deep league drafts, I bought him across the board. ;-D

Quintana had his moments last year. You could do worse for a late SP speculation pickup.

The Henderon Alvarez advice is good. He is an extreme groundball SP (57%). The Marlins are going to be bad, but the one thing they'll be pretty good at is infield defense. Hechavarria and Kotchmen are both plus defenders on the infield, and Polanco is still at better than average despite his age.

I'd pick him over Quintana.

Please help with mine.
