J. Upton for McCutchen?

Postby Watermock » Mon Mar 25, 2013 2:01 pm

I have been getting lots of offers the past few days. Owners gearing up for opening day!

This last one has me intrigued but I'm not sure if I feel comfortable enough with Upton to make the deal. Let me know what you think. Keep 5 players.

I would send - McCutchen, Uggla, and either Vogelsong or Peavy

I would get - J. Upton, Kipnis, and either Samardzjia or Greinke.

McCutchen and Upton are similar players with McCutchen having a better track record thus far, hence my hesitancy. Upton by no means has been a so-so player, but doesn he put it all together now that he is with his brother? Does he go 30/20?

I feel that this is Uptons year especially with the sibling rivalry but mccutchen is so consistant. Uggla is always hurt it seems but if he plays a whole season he could put up solidnumbers. Grie has ace potential with no confidence but a new park and second in the rotation could spark something. Maybe even getting some advice from K Kid. This is a trade I'd dwell on for days but I'd end up accepting

If this was a redraft I would definitely do this deal. I usually don't do deals like this where I am not getting the best player, but Kipnis is a huge upgrade over Uggla and if you can add Greinke he is better than either of those pitchers. I would actually keep Vogelsong over Peavy, but am probably in the minority on that one.

However since it is a keeper it makes it a bit harder without knowing your keeper situation. Kipnis has the potential to be extremely valuable. He was having a great season before his injury at a notoriously shallow position which could make him a good keeper candidate. If there is no way you plan on keeping anyone from this deal other than Upton then I probably wouldn't do it since Cutch is a better keeper. Otherwise I would make this deal.

Sorry. I meant to post my team as well in the OP.

10 Team H2H 5 keeper league.
C- C. Santana
1b- Goldy
2b- Utley
3b- R. Zimmerman
SS- Tulo
Of- Cutch, Stanton, Cargo, Grandy, Crisp, Ichiro
Util - Craig, Uggla
SP - Peavy, Harvey, Zimmerman, Scherzer, Vogelsong RP- Veras, Grilli, Axford, Romo

As you can see...I have a number of good young keepers.

This trade is racking my brain.
