How should I approach this league?

How should I approach this league?

Postby timgair » Sun Mar 24, 2013 12:05 am

I have a draft on Sunday Mar 24th. The league is a standard 5x5 roto. The pitching categories are the usual Wins, ERA, Ks, Saves & WHIP. It's a little different than most roto leagues that I've played in so far. You get to start 7 pitchers. There is no limit on relievers or starters. I can start any 7 that I choose. The innings limit is 1500.

So, would it be best to just stream starters in this situation and punt saves all together? Seems to me like that innings limit would be really tough to hit if I used relievers at all. Is there a particular approach any of you would take toward a league like this? Any advice would be appreciated.

I hope I am not to late for your draft.

1500 innings is 60 innings a week over a 25 week season. That is less than nine innings per week for each of the seven pitching position on your roster. If you have seven starters pitch 215 innings apiece during the season you will exceed the max limits. Punting saves and streaming mediocre pitchers will kill you.
