Right value to trade Miggy? WHIR

Postby lambo1203 » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:34 pm

Let me preface this by saying I'm not looking to trade Miggy, I've just received a lot of offers for him and so I'm thinking if I can get good enough value for him, maybe I should trade him. As you can see, I have Wright and Evan, but no one's interested in either of them. Here's my roster and several possible trades for Miggy. Are these reasonable gauges of Miggy's value?

ESPN 8-team league H2H points (1 pt/base, SB, RBI, R, BB, -1/K, CS, E...+/- 5 W/L, +/- 3 SV/BS, .9/IP, 1 pt/K, -1 pt/BB, HB, ER, -2 pt/HR, 5 pts QS, 9 pts CG, 15 SO)

C: Mauer
1B: I. Davis
2B: Pedroia
SS: A. Cabrera
3B: M. Cabrera
OFs: Holliday, Cespedes, Victorino
Util: Wright, Longoria
SP: Wainwright, Zimmermann, Lester, Morrow, Lincecum
RP: J. Johnson, Medlen
Bench: Markakis, A. Hill, Howard, Machado, Hosmer

Option 1 (counter I sent to the owner of Hanley & Granderson)
I get: Posey, Phillips, Zobrist
I give up: Miggy, Ike Davis, possibly Markakis

Option 2 (proposed to me)
I get: CarGo & Austin Jackson
I give: Miggy (drop Markakis)

Option 3 (proposed to me)
I get: Adam Jones, Starlin Castro
I give: Miggy

Obviously I'd like the first option to be the one that happens as I feel that's great value for him, I just don't know if the other owner will take it. Thoughts? Leave a link and I'll help with yours ;-D

I've been contemplating the same thing. I'd take the second option because Car-go is the second best and jackson will be a very productive OF when he comes back in the Tigers lineup. I was considering asking for a pitcher as part of the package as well.

Can you work a Cargo + Top 15 pitcher trade?

Look man, Miggy is the #1 player (at least top 3) you need to get a return that warrants this. A top 15 player + a top 15 pitcher (Cargo and Kershaw at minimum is what you need to get).

I don't think any of the 3 are enough. My advice would be to pull that counter offer down before you get what you asked for. The Dog is right. You need to be getting two top 15 overall players at a minimum.

I would do none of these trades. You're not getting enough value for Miggy in any of them. I think the best trade is #2 and would be worth considering if they replaced Jackson with someone better. The worst deal is #1 IMO. Why get Posey when you have Mauer? I assume you would put him at 1B, but for Miggy the only first basemen you should consider are Fielder or Votto (maybe Goldy). Only reason Posey is valued so high is because he's a catcher.
