Where do you get your auction values?

Postby footballisbetter.com » Sat Mar 23, 2013 9:48 am

I have two auctions coming up in the next week. I do like to have some sort of guide with $ values to use as a guide.

What are fellow cafe owners using?

I always have the same question and I know this answer won't help you at all, but after my first two years of playing in an auction league (with keepers, nonetheless), I have come to realize that each league has its own dynamic and therefore going in with predetermined values can be very frustrating. Last year I even took the values I had and added like $5 to each and made a game plan, yet things change so much on the fly that it doesn't seem to ever work out

That is true Jack. i know everything can change and is different league by league, but I do like having one as a starting point.

In the past Scott Pianowski on yahoo usually does a "shuffle up" column with $ values, and it has been pretty good.

JackShephard is correct. No site's auction predictions ever comes close to what my league's values end up being. If its you first year, you're basically going to have to judge based off of what the first few players go for. After your first year, its best to just judge based off of what the guys went for in your league last year. If a guy gets better, add a few bucks, and vice versa.

my league uses $250 for 25 players. keeps it simple at $10 per player.

top hitters go for $35-40 and top pitchers go for around $30-35.

If you really want some custom predications, use baseballmonster.com. They'll give you values based on your league's custom scoring settings, but their values still won't be completely accurate. The market in your league will dictate the pricing.

I create my own which are somewhat customizable by league. Just ask for a small donation in return if anyone is interested.

I still find this helpful as a starting point...
