You were watching the wrong game. He's got crazy speed. I think I posted a video in one of my previous posts...it shows off his speed. He's crazy fast.

Puig hype train leaving station...

Postby lastingsgriller » Mon Mar 25, 2013 11:12 am

I think that the Bo Jackson comparison is probably a pretty good one. Bo was very very raw. Additionally, he did not have a very good eye and swung too much, but he was such a physical freak that he could get away with many of those things.

One thing I don't know is how well the physical tools matchup. Is he as fast as Bo? I don't know, but Bo was probably faster than trout. So I would guess he is not as fast as Bo. Does he have the same power Bo had? No clue. Seems to look like it this spring, but he could just be hot. I'd like to see a scouts power grade after watching him take BP for a couple days.

Drafted Puig with my lone pick in my Minors Draft last week and this thread makes me want to put him on my trade block right now. I may never get more for him than at this very moment.

I've been thinking about the same thing. I think he'll do alright in Las Vegas though and the hype train will go completely nuts.

Las Vegas is the Mets affiliate. Albuquerque has been the Dodger AAA affiliate since 2009. He hasn't played above A+. I would imagine that he gets assigned to AA Chattanooga. The ONLY way he breaks camp with the team is if Crawford or Kemp have a setback.

That's embarrassing but Albuquerque is almost as crazy offensively as LV. Dry air and elevation should be particularly good for fastball hitters.

If Puig opens the season in Chattanooga I'll probably make a 6-7 hour drive to see him play in the first week of the season. I hope he's there...it would be a pretty fun little road trip.

Nice little poke the other way for Puig against Dan Wheeler...

1 for 1 against the Royals.

Correct. Look at what Trayvon Robinson and Jerry Sands did down there. It's a joke. Chattanooga should play a little more fair. If it were me, I would rarely expose my top prospects to the PCL. They could form a lot of bad habits.

Puig optioned to AA today so we don't have to listen to any more play by play commentary on how he hit a single. Call me when he takes a walk or you have a sample size of 400 AB....
