14 Team 5x5 Roto

Postby AroundTheFur922 » Thu Mar 21, 2013 8:49 am

Just inherited this team this season. I kept Pedroia at the cost of a 2nd round pick, Bumgarner for a 6th, Prado for an 11th, and Romo for a 19th. Categories are R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP. Pitching cats are K, ERA, WHIP, QS, & SV's. Draft was last night. It's a roto league, do you think this team could finish top 3 or better? What are the flaws?

C - Avila
1B - Votto
2B - Pedroia
3B - Prado
SS - Castro
OF - Holliday
OF - Choo
OF - Reddick
U - Eaton
U - Revere
U - Kubel
BN - D. Brown
BN - d'Arnaud

SP - Bumgarner
SP - Lester
SP - Estrada
RP - Chapman
RP - Romo
RP - Madson
P - J. Santana
P - McDonald
P - Teheran
BN - S. Miller
BN - Worley
BN - Phelps
BN - Benoit

You have a couple guys that will drag your OBP down (Reddick, Kubel), though obviously they contribute in most of the other categories; plus, you got some great OBP picks at other positions. Avila is sneaky good in an OBP league, good choice there. You have a nice balance of power guys and speed guys. Seems like you did well with the keepers too; Romo in the 19th especially is a steal.

I will say that you do have a fair amount of baggage right now; that is, guys who currently are wasting a roster spot. Eaton, Madson, and Santana are all injured, do you have DL slots in this league? d'Arnaud will start in the minors, and Miller and Phelps aren't guaranteed rotation shares. You may wish to cut bait on at least some of these guys and go for players who have more consistent playing time.

Without seeing the other rosters, I'd wager you probably have a top 5 team here, better if everything breaks right and your guys come back healthy and effective.

I'd greatly appreciate if you could take a look at my team, here. Thanks.
