First Auto Pick Draft! (WHIR)

Postby Rabid58 » Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:53 am

Hey guys. This league I joined has been going for a few years and they needed to fill a spot so I took it. 10 Team League, H2H Categories.

The roster requirements are as follows:
1 Catcher, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, Middle Infielder (SS/2B), Corner Infielder (1B/3B), Utility
5 Outfielders
9 Pitchers

Scoring Categories are as follows:
Batting: AVG, Runs Scored, SB, HR, RBI
Pitching: ERA, WHIP, SV, K, W

C: Will Rosario
1B: Paul Goldschimdt
2B: Rickie Weeks
3B: David Freese
SS: Derek Jeter
2B/SS: Dustin Ackley
1B/3B: Freddie Freeman
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Mike Trout
OF: Adam Jones
OF: Sin-Soo Choo
OF: Carlos Beltran
Util: Hunter Pence
Bench: Miguel Montero (C), Will Middlebrooks (3B), Norichika Aoki (OF)

P: Justin Verlander
P: Felix Hernandez
P: Matt Cain
P: CC Sabathia
P: Jeff Samardzija
P: Marco Estrada
P: Tom Wilhelmsen (RP)
P: Steve Chisek (RP)
P: Brandon League (RP)

I feel like I did pretty well. SP are crazy or at least it seems that way to me. Possibly move one of them for some more offense. But who and for who? OF I feel is strong and will put up big numbers. RP are mediocre but no more than that.

Any thoughts? Things you'd try to do?

Let me know! Leave a link and i'll help you out!
Thanks much!

I love the team. Choo is such a sneaky pick, he is a lttle less power than Jason Heyward who goes 40 picks before him... CRAZY VALUE!!! I also like Schmidty and your outfield is beast. If anything could be improved it might be the saves stat. Maybe try deal pence for a closer, you have aoki to fill the util and he is going to have a great year. Good luck Rabid!

Thanks for the input. Will just Pence himself be able to snag some saves? I was thinking I could pair a player or two for a 2nd tier closer.

Also my catcher situation seems a little difficult. I can see Rosario having a nice year and having a bump in production however right now it seems as though I should start Montero. Only thing I lose starting Montero are HRs.

Any free agents worth picking up at this point?

Offense:
Adam Eaton, Brian McCann, Jeff Keppinger, Omar Infante, Mark Reynolds, David Murphy, Wil Myers, Jedd Gyorko, Ryan Doumit, Jon Jay, Drew Stubbs, Alex Rodriguez, Johnny Peralta, Starling Marte, Juan Pierre, Justin Ruggiano, Denard Span, Andy Dirks

Pitching:
Bruce Rondon (Help with saves?), Clay Buchholz, Bobby Parnell, Carlos Marmol, James McDonald, Mark Buehrle, Ivan Nova, Rick Porcello, Johan Santana

The wire looks pretty picked over. If Josh Rutledge is available I would look into him (although not sure who you want to drop). Don't worry about your C situation, odds are Ryan Doumit gets hot and you drop one of those 2 anyways. I like that you didn't go for a big name catcher, it always seems like a waste of a pick to me. Perhaps keep an eye of Beuhrle, he is very solid and has a great team to score him runs now. Pence should be able to draw you a decent guy, someone in your league is going to have too many closers and realize after 3 days that they are screwed. Wait for that and then get good value for pence.

Okay. Feel like I need to strengthen my infield somewhat too.

Sent out one offer:
I get John Axford and Ortiz (On his bench) for Hunter Pence and Montero or Rosario.

Add saves with Axford. Add average and power with Ortiz. Start the other catcher or hang in till Doumit gets going.

I have a friend in the league who loves Rickie Weeks. Thinking of trying to get a good deal for him but I'm not quite sure what to try.

He's got Joel Hanharan and Fernando Rodney who would both help my saves. Maybin in his utility spot so Pence would be an upgrade there. He's got Rutledge, Profar, and Uggla for middle infielders. Any ideas here?

Rickie Weeks and Pence for Hanharan, Profar and Rutledge?

Let me know what you think!
