#2 Overall pick

Postby ScrappyDawg » Fri Mar 15, 2013 6:44 pm

I have the #2 overall pick in my upcoming draft. The owner with the #1 pick has already made it clear he is taking Trout first overall. This has left me with a Bruan vs Miggy debate. I want to take a 5-tool OF (Braun), but the steroid allegations scare me. If I took Braun then I could grab Beltre, Wright, or Longo with the #19 pick. Do you think Braun has a realistic chance of being suspended this year? Even if you believe Braun won't be suspended, would it be stupid to pass up Miggy? Thanks for the help.

10 Team 6x6 redraft
OBP, 3Bs, R, RBI, HR, SB -- W, ERA, WHIP, BBs (-), Ks, SV

C- , 1B- , 2B- , 3B- , SS- , OF- , OF- , OF- , Util-
SP- , SP- , RP- , RP- , P- , P- , P- , P- , P-

It's a tough call. I think I have to say Braun. The PED thing still scares me... But getting all 5 tools is too much to pass up. FWIW, I'd take Miggy at 2 and wouldn't take Trout until 3.

Definitely go with MCab but if you want Braun I would go Longoria.

I would not choose Braun because
a.) I refuse to employ cheaters and
b.) Cabrera is a monster, and doesn't have a potential suspension looming

as for the guy choosing Trout 1st overall, I would do the same. I thought Miggy was the wise choice for a while, but then I started thinking more about it:
the worst case scenario for Trout is probably .280/20 with 40 stolen bases, so if Trout has a "bad" year, he is around 10-15 homeruns, .030-.040 batting average less than Cabrera, but with 40 more steals and probably a bit more runs. But if Trout has a monster season, you are looking at the clear cut best player in fantasy, without much comparison (like last season)

I would look to Miggy. He has the best protection, the ability to DH when not feeling 100%. Good talent ahead of him to get on base.

While I get a 5 category player, if you get the best at 3/4 categories, you can go an nab steals later.

Help with mine please? /viewtopic.php?f=26&t=456288
