I wouldn't want to target Beckham as my starting 2B in a standard 12 team league.
I often think in bigger. I play regular in 2 leagues, one that has 5 extra starting spots including MI, plus a 16 team league.

I only mentioned it because thats the reference you gave twice here:

his high from there is 223. that's 19th round in a standard 12 team league.
I would love to have those numbers at 2B from those spots in the draft.

ya I understand in deeper leagues you need someone to start at 2B for you. But I can name 20 other guys I'd rather count on than Beckham.
Some guys outside Yahoos top 15 2b I would rather have before Beckham are:
Rutledge
Seager
Young
K Johnson
E Cabrera
Infante
Scutaro
Murphy

And I just wound up with him in my other league...this time got him outside the top 300. I feel pretty confident that he'll outproduce that draft position. I don't think he'll be a stud, but he could be a decent MI option in 12-15 team leagues.

can someone name three starting 2B with a full time job locked up who you would pick AFTER Beckham? Barney and Solano end my 2B list with Beckham just ahead of them. He's the end of what is fantasy relevant, I don't see anyone else worth picking after him in mixed leagues.

I cant think of anyone... at that point youre hoping for new guys to gain eligibility this season.

Prime candidate #1:
Matt Carpenter.

In fact i would draft carpenter as a starting 2B in deep leagues around the 12-14th off the board. He has way higher potential than a lot of the guys I mentioned earlier

Solano
Barney
Dan Murphy
Brian Roberts
Omar Infante
Pretty close to Scutaro/Kelly Johnson IMO.

There are a few time split/teams who aren't sure who will be the starting 2B on opening day.

Taking all of that into account I think Beckham is in the 20-25 2B range which is useful for a 12-15 team league with an MI slot.

I'm taking a filer on him this year, because why not. He still has good upside and room for improvement, I can't see why he can't put together a 15-20 homer season with a .260 average and 60+ RBIs and 10 steals as long as he becomes a more disciplined hitter. I'll take that from a 300+ draft pick.

I took a flyer on him in a 19 team dynasty draft....and scored him 461st overall to be my backup 2b to Ackley. Thought that was incredible value for a guy who was only 25 last season. (Chase Utley wasn't the starter/fantasy relevant until his age 26 season....not that I think they're caparable, I only mention it because he's still young enough to have upside remaining)

I think there's still a chance Beckham puts things together, and for that small a price tag I was elated to take the chance on him.
