GIANCARLO STANTON

wow. I just drafted this guy with the 19th pick in my draft. i think i really got a steal in the late second round. but EVAN LONGORIA was available, and everyone in my league apparently thinks this was a mistake.

They say that STANTON has no teammates to get on base or to protect him. so I have to ask you guys since i believe this forum is filled with educated fantasy fans/experts.

How is STANTON going to do this year? I am hoping he finishes in the top 15 with 45 HR and 275 AVG. It's hard for me to predict his runs and rbis, but i am going to say 80 runs 90 rbis.

You drafted a 2nd rounder that will score about 70 runs, drive in 80 and hit .270. Are you okay with that?

Yes, the power is unreal but the stats coming back, for that 19th pick, are pedestrian. The upside is he is never hurt.

Whether you got a bargain or made a mistake depends heavily on your scoring. But all things being equal, I think Stanton is safer than Longoria at 19th overall...if only because Longoria has a much greater injury risk and slightly less upside. That said, the odds are indeed slim that Stanton will put up great totals in any category outside of HRs & SLG%.

Well maybe he gets traded to the Yankees in June and collects 100rbi in the second half.

Power potential is unreal. Longoria may be the pick as he helps you in more categories at a position that's not easy to find true value. Problem is Longoria is slowly becoming one of the more injury prone studs in the game, another trip to the DL solidifies that label.

Longoria is the better player, but at 19 which is 2nd round in 10- team, I think Stanton is the much safer pick. His power is elite, the lack of hitters around him will hurt some stats, but an increase in walks this season should be expected. Among League leaders in strikeouts though.

This is true. But Stanton is still a monster for power numbers. I'd prefer him over Lonoria as well. It's not Longoria has an all-start lineup around him either.
