I'm taking this back. Yes it is harder to get the hang of hitting HR left handed but it is all in the timing and pitch selection. Now that I've got the hang of it my left handed hitters are hitting just as many HR as the righties.
I read about guys pitting Babe Ruth against Pedro Martinez in a homerun derby. Yes, PEDRO as a batter. Pedro wins by hitting two home runs to Babe Ruth hitting ZERO. This is with the computer playing against itself...no human timing issues involved.
maybe if you stopped reading MVP websites that bash the game and actually try to play it you could also hit homeruns with lefties. Ive beaten people with Jim Thome in homerun derby when they were Richie Sexson or Pujols etc... maybe your just not good at MVP. Also if you wanna cut down on Triples shifts your outfeild

You talkin to me? <img src=/forums/images/smiles/kiss.gif>
I've hit homers with lefties, very few...and they don't go near as far. I'm fine at the game, my record on all-star difficulty is I think 5-1 on my second go-around on a dynasty with the ChiSox. How do you explain the computer playing against itself in a homerun derby not being able to hit a homerun with Babe Ruth???
No, in reality, the game has some issues. Don't take it personally, they made mistakes in the programming.

This I can attest to - Babe Ruth has won power derby for me, but only because the computer I'm playing against hits 3 foul balls per round. Ruth hits 1 in Yankee stadium, and I'm pulling shots down the RF line (314 feet)

i just got mvp baseball 2004 today, i have been playing non-stop. it is awesome! the graphics are great and i really like like gameplay, especially the ability to choose what type of slide you do and the screen that shows your swing in slow motion. dynasty mode is incredilbe, as you can control the minor league teams as well. its not fun to play their games, but i usually just sim-manage those.
there are only a few bugs:
1. Your outfielders are way too slow, and it takes a while to chase down seeminbly weak fly balls that drop for doubles
2. It takes up a lot of space on your memory card.
MVP 04' is simply a great baseball game. Yes, there may be a couple glitches (like lefties hitting HRs, grrr). However, no game is perfect. If your looking for a great time and something to get addicted to, then get MVP.

The lefty HR thing is the only problem I've had with the game. I've had 3 perfect games with Mark Prior, playing on Pro, and just missed a perfect game tonight with Jerome Williams in the bottom of the 9th on a little bloop single into center field. (Time to kick it up to the next level i guess ) I've hit lots of HRs with my righties, ie: Jeff Kent and Jason Kendall. Craig Monroe hits a HR just about every other AB against lefties, so there's a hint for you guys that are platooning at OF or 1B. As for taking up too much space on a memory card, that's the beauty of XBox: there's basically unlimited storage space on the hard drive
